Owner/Operator, Captain Tom Bottrell is your guide. Tom sailed into Kona in 1975 with Project Jonah to study whales and dolphins, and has been here ever since.
He holds a B.Sc. in Meteorology and Oceanography, and M.Sc. in Ecology from the University of Michigan where he trained as a professional ecologist in work both above and below water. He was Chief Diving Officer for the University of Michigan's Great Lakes Research Division, and to complete his masters degree he wrote a training manual for researchers doing underwater ecological work.
Tom has been a certified skipper in Kona since 1977 and is currently certified as a US Merchant Marine Officer: Master for both power and sail vessels up to 100 Tons. Capt.
